Yesterday we unboxed Tait, Harris and Motorola portables for the 7 eval teams. The Kenwood dealer forgot to ship his radios. Each vendor is going to do a presentation Friday and the teams will have 3 weeks to test them. I like the N50 size and menu screen but could not find a way to read signal strength. For... 02-07-26, 16:38 pm Hi all, I'm watching 1R DSD+ window and I've noticed my local P25 system is sending out a different control channel indicated by RFSS_STS_BCST status broadcast. For example, the screenshot shows CC=853.8125. but in reality, the CC for the system is transmitting on 856.7125. When that happens, DSD+FL jumps to 853.8125 and then nothing. There is nothing transmitting on 853.8125 and the frequency is not even part of the system. Does anyone know why? Thanks View article »

As radio heads I guess it's cool to speculate, even more enjoyable to poke a little fun at ourselves... but make no mistake the SDS series of radios are nothing more... 02-07-26, 16:36 pm As radio heads I guess it's cool to speculate, even more enjoyable to poke a little fun at ourselves... but make no mistake the SDS series of radios are nothing more than software defined radios with some programming and electronics that favor one type of activity.... ... so Uniden, why not offer us a home unit that is just a bare heavily shielded box with no screen or keypad that we can plug into our computers? In some of the shops/end users I have worked for, we did not have dedicated radio programmers. Often, it was the more experienced techs or Moto ATS that would build the initial codeplugs and the field techs deploying the system would fine tune the final codeplugs. Once I got the radios programmed and working the way I want I purchased a couple new batteries (not Impress) off Amazon. One of the radios does not like either of these new batteries. The other radio works fine with both. It feels like a mechanical issue. When I start seating the battery on the radio it will power up. If I leave it half connected it the radio...
