Bought an old laptop with a real serial port which is running MS-DOS. I have the software and the programming cable (Bluemax). I started with one radio. Was able to read it, modify the codeplug, and write it back. No problem. Now I am trying to copy that codeplug to all these other radios. All the videos I've seen testing Minis have found them to meet FCC specifications for spurious emissions, as both of mine do. In my experience, it performs comparably to all the other 5-watt HTs I've used. I think Baofeng knocked it out of the park with this one. I tried calling CQ awhile to no avail. Out of curiosity, I tuned my shortwave to the same freq to see what it sounds like. Excuse my newbie question, but should I be able to hear myself? Part of our response area includes an airport and we are allowed to use the specific airport frequencies to communicate with the tower and ground operations. Can the airband frequencies be programmed into this radio since it is an all-band model, or do we still need another radio for this purpose? View article »
