They make a MDC1200 chirp and then another chirp like the GE Star and start with the inversion and a ticking sound about each second. I know this is dinosaur tech but they were pretty good back in the day. I used to have a copy of their software that they emailed free of charge but that was 2+ decades ago. I have contacts programmed into the Contact List and also the entire DMR ID database programmed into the Address category (yeah I know it's weir,d but that's where you're supposed to load DMR IDs from the database). For some reason, when receiving a transmission going through my hotspot, the unit fails to resolve the DMR ID and thus doesn't provide information such as the caller's name. Portable coverage looks very poor from the provided maps. If those are correct, the "upgrade" would have worse performance than the current system.
