I’m noticing when I am in Houston County/Dothan (at home) I won’t hear any traffic from those neighboring counties. When I travel to those counties, I receive radio traffic just fine. Is this normal for these counties? I’m not up to speed on how strong their signals are. Yesterday we unboxed Tait, Harris and Motorola portables for the 7 eval teams. The Kenwood dealer forgot to ship his radios. Each vendor is going to do a presentation Friday and the teams will have 3 weeks to test them. I like the N50 size and menu screen but could not find a way to read signal strength. New house is located in the Ocean Lakes neighborhood, before I moved to James City, I grew up in Portsmouth , so the area isn’t new to me, just the air scanning part is very new and trying to get the hang of it. I’m not interested in a motorized mount, I’ve been there and done that with dual band ham antennas. The last time I had a quick disconnect, it didn’t inspire much confidence because it was extremely wobbly for lack of a better term. I’m hoping somebody makes one better than that nowadays.
