06-07-26 St. Thomas Fire Has anyone noticed recent radio work done or changed to FD in St. Thomas. I can hear apparatus traffic but no dispatch communications. Pretty sure their new radios went in yesterday, though. When dispatch was on Repeater 2, no channel came up, but P25 code came on instead of DMR. Not sure if anyone knows anything or what. 06-07-26 Walmart no longer MURS I have noticed that the Walmart stores in Southern California appeared to be using digital radios now, possibly Motorola. No, it appears that all of the Walmart stores... 06-07-26, 14:19 pm I have noticed that the Walmart stores in Southern California appeared to be using digital radios now, possibly Motorola. No, it appears that all of the Walmart stores in Las Vegas are now also digital radios, and the call buttons at all of the lock ups are transmitting digital audio. Not sure what frequency these are on, or what modulation method or if they use frequency hopping. Just from a cursory glance, it appears that they are using the 900 MHz frequency hopping Motorola product. View article »

06-07-26 SDS100: is it ever OK to scan multiple sites? I'm sure this has been discussed at somepoint but... I have an SDS100 that'll be mobile with me in the car as I travel around mostly eastern CT. The state is relatively small and there appears to be a site towers around every corner (there's 4 all within about a 15 miles radius). If I understand right, using all of them all the time can result in missed communication, but would there be a benefit in this case, because of how close they all are, to keeping multiple sites in the scan...
