In my opinion, the weekly 1900 roll call on Thursday seems useless. 1) Just because the pagers work on Thursday Night, they can fail anytime of the week 2) If there is no response from the agency, the dispatcher keeps on going down the list. Really no point in dealing with itinerant Business frequency licensing etc. No one else seems to make a product to compete with them. They get lots of use and never had issues with interference and works great in urban terrain. Everything is mostly on LCRA though they use VHF for tone outs and some on scene ops. This week they've started toning out the county VFDs on their own channels, but since I'm out of state I am unable to track their VHF usage.
